Many people know about Consolidated Glass Company's Ruba Rombic line, but here is something related that few know about. Nicolas Kopp originally worked at Consolidated Glass Company in Coraopolis PA as their "color man." In that capacity, he was responsible for the ingredients in "glass batches" to produce the outstanding colors that Consolidated made, including an outstanding true red.
Nicolas Kopp left Consolidated and founded his own company, Kopp Glass Incorporated in Swissvale, PA.
When Consolidated Glass Company introduced their famous Ruba Rombic line in January 1928 it caused a sensation. Kopp Glass Incorporated soon followed with their Art Deco line which was called "Modernistic" in the original catalogs. I have included some cuts from original Kopp Glass catalogs as well as trade journal advertising in the picture gallery.
Red and black are rare in this line and pieces with silver applied are very rare. This line of Kopp Modernistic is quite complimentary to Reuben Haley's Ruba Rombic.
